Patio and Pool Deck Coating in Ventura County

Outdoor concrete has a different problem list than a garage: sun, thermal movement, and wet feet. Standard epoxy ambers and chalks in direct sun, so exterior work gets a UV-stable system with slip resistance built into the topcoat.

01

UV stability matters outside

Straight epoxy yellows under direct sun. Exterior systems use an aliphatic topcoat that holds color, which is the difference between a patio that still looks right in year five and one that went orange in year two.

02

Slip resistance around water

Pool surrounds get a heavier texture additive than a covered patio does. We match the grip level to how the space gets used and whether it is barefoot traffic.

03

Movement and cracking

Outdoor slabs expand and contract more than interior ones. Control joints get honored rather than coated over, so the floor cracks where it is supposed to instead of randomly.

Common questions

Ask us something else
Will it get too hot to walk on?+

Lighter colors stay noticeably cooler. For barefoot areas we steer people toward the lighter blends for that reason.

Can you coat pavers or stamped concrete?+

Stamped concrete usually yes. Pavers are a different conversation because of the joints, so it needs a look in person.

How does it handle sprinklers and pool chemicals?+

The topcoat is chemical resistant. Chlorinated water and standard irrigation are not a problem once cured.

Will it fade in the sun?+

The exterior systems we use are UV stable, so they hold color rather than ambering the way interior epoxy does outdoors.

Can it go over existing cool deck?+

Usually not directly. Cool deck is a textured overlay and it typically has to come off so the coating bonds to sound concrete underneath.

Does it ever need resealing?+

No annual sealing. High-sun areas may want a refresh topcoat somewhere around the ten year mark, which is a one day job with no grinding.
